A New Book, a New Year

Hello Reader,

I hope the new year is treating you well! (I know we're already three months in, but better late than never!) I wanted to take a moment to share some exciting updates about my writing journey and game development progress.

Back to Writing: Chorus in the Storm

Over Christmas break, I finally sat down to start writing my next book, Chorus in the Storm. This marks my return to writing after a year and a half away (more on that in a future email).

I’m thrilled to be working on this story because it’s the long-awaited sequel to Angel from the Rust, making it the second book in the Earth Medieval series. Interestingly, I originally had a different book planned as Book Two (I even have a first draft of that tucked away), but after a lot of reflection, I realized that story fits better as Book Three. So, while that tale will come later, I’m excited to dive into Chorus in the Storm and bring this next chapter to life.

Since Christmas, I’ve written the prologue and the first three chapters, totaling around 14,000 words. (For reference, Angel from the Rust is about 116,000 words.) So is that slow progress? Just right? I'm not sure. All us writers are running our own race.

It feels great to be back writing in the world of Earth Medieval, and I can’t wait to share more with you as the book takes shape!

Iron Wilds: Playtesters Want More!

On the game-making front, Iron Wilds has been getting fantastic feedback from playtesters. It’s one thing to hear that a game is fun and engaging—but it’s even better when testers finish a session and immediately ask, “When can we play again?”

Hearing that enthusiasm has been incredibly encouraging, and I’m excited to keep refining the game. However, after some serious thinking and strategizing about how to give this game the best launch possible, I’m considering postponing its release until at least three books in the series are out.

The more people who know about the world in which the game take place, the more people will be ready to get the game when it launches. (That's my theory anyway.) I want to make sure Iron Wilds launches in a way that maximizes its impact and ties in well with the world of Earth Medieval.

Stay tuned for more updates as Iron Wilds continues to develop!
