It’s been a while since my last update—and there’s a good reason for that.

I’ve been busy working on a very big project.

I’m excited to finally announce that Oceanic, the tabletop game I’ve been developing over the past year, is now live on Kickstarter.

And we’ve already passed 400 backers and raised more than $38,000!

Now, I realize that if you originally signed up for this email list because you know me as a science-fiction and fantasy author, you might be wondering:

Why is an author making a board game?

Fair question.

The more I’ve worked on Oceanic, the more I’ve come to see how naturally books and board games fit together. Both involve worldbuilding, imagination, and creating experiences that people can get lost in.

That’s also led me to think more about the direction I want to take Phoenix Forge Press. My plan is for it to eventually become the place where I publish both my books and my tabletop games. To me, those two things belong together.

Oceanic is the first major step in that direction.

And, of course, I still have books to write. Once Oceanic is done, I’ll be returning to the book I was working on before this project took over most of my creative attention. I’m looking forward to getting back to it.
